Stephen Bulmer

Prior to joining the 10 in 8 Group Stephen Bulmer was the co-owner and Head Chef of the Brook Hall Cookery School.
He has spent his career working and teaching in top quality restaurants in the UK and overseas, having been a finalist in Young Chef of the Year in 1992 and 1993.
Most recently, Stephen was Chef/Director of the Raymond Blanc Cookery School at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons for the last six years. During that time he gained acclaim from students and journalists alike as an outstanding teacher with a rare gift for combining entertainment with education. Students not only developed and improved their cookery skills, but also had a fantastic day out at the same time.
Prior to running Raymond Blanc’s Cookery School, Stephen was Head Chef of the QC Restaurant at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel, Chancery Court. He and his wife Joanna also established and ran Atelier restaurant in West Soho between 1994 and 1997, which held a Michelin Red M (now Bib Gourmand) and 3 AA rosettes.
Stephen has had extensive experience as a senior chef at the highest level, including four years as a Chef de Partie at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. He also worked at Babington House, Bath; Zafferano, Knightsbridge; Mallory Court, Warwickshire and George Blanc in Burgundy after training at the Box Tree, Yorkshire.
Keen to broaden his knowledge further, he also gained experience in Thai cuisine at Nahm, London; in Japanese cuisine at Nobu, London and at several restaurants of note in the USA.
He has appeared on TV in Ready, Steady Cook and Total Fishing.
Steve and Joanna have two children, Oliver aged eight and Emily aged six. Steve likes nothing better than going out with them at 6am on a Sunday morning to search the local car boot sales for vintage kitchenalia and old cookery books.
