Alan Murchison

Alan Murchison is Head of The 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group and currently the only Chef to operate multiple Michelin-starred restaurants outside of London, namely L’ortolan in Berkshire, La Bécasse in Ludlow and Paris House in Woburn.

As well as holding a prestigious Michelin star in 2010, L’ortolan & La Bécasse were also ranked in the Sunday Times Food List of top 50 restaurants in Great Britain and the National Restaurant Awards top 100 Restaurants in the UK.  In 2010, the 10 in 8 Group acquired two iconic restaurants; Paris House in Woburn and Restaurant Angélique (formerly The New Angel) in Dartmouth. Paris House opened in February 2010 and awarded a Michelin-star just 11 months later.  Restaurant Angélique opened in January 2011 and has already received rave reviews.

Alan has gained experience and inspiration from working at a number of renowned restaurants including Inverlochy Castle and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons where Alan spent two years as Senior Sous Chef before taking up his post as Director Ecole de Cuisine.

Alan’s first book “Food For Thought” received critical acclaim from the likes of Egon Ronay and Michel Roux.  Since 2008, Alan has been a featured Chef on a number of TV programmes on the BBC & UKTV including The Great British Menu, The Hairy Bikers and Market Kitchen.
